A Brief Introduction of Huaxia Chinese School at Bergen

Huaxia Chinese school at Bergen is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of New Jersey. Since its existence in 1997 as one of the oldest Hua Xia branches, Hua Xia Bergen has been faithful to its mission of disseminating Chinese culture and tradition. Each generation of the school's leadership has focused on excellence in teaching, along with organizing various activities, especially on traditional holidays that have brought joys and laughter to its students. This has been made possible by the optimal use of the school's financial resources. Now with the new team of leadership in office, parents expect greater achievement.

More than a decade into its development, Hua Xia Bergen has seen rapid increase of the number of its students to about 500 from its original several dozens. In 2007, the school made some adjustments by offering a new course in CSL, a placement test for students who wish to register for the graduating class. Currently, for arts and sports, on top of the courses in violin, Zheng (a Chinese musical instrument), singing, chess, Chinese chess, drawing, arts and crafts, Chinese knots, basketball, football, tennis and track and field, new courses, such as the evolution of the Chinese characters, have been offered to interested students.

Huaxia Bergen is located at Paramus Catholic High School, the largest private school in New Jersey. The campus is on 27 scenic acres with 1500-seat football stadium, four newly resurfaced tennis courts and newly resurfaced metric track. School facility includes 70 air-conditioning classrooms, a 830-seat auditorium with professional quality stage, light and sound, two large cafeterias and ample parking area for up to 500 cars.

As the school further develops, we seek people who speak excellent Chinese, who have a passion for teaching and who have knowledge of Chinese Pin Yin. It is our hope that by working together, we will bring to school to new height and turn Chinese teaching into a fulfilling undertaking.
