Huaxia Bergen School Notice (School Open on 05/18/2014)

Dear Parents,

1. Chinese school will be open on May 18, 2014.

2. Congratulations to all 17 students from the graduation class who passed the HSK4 test this year. Thank you to teacher Zhang Qin and students for your hard work. The details will be posted in the school website.

3. A group of Ivy League college students will give a presentation about their experiences of college application process. It will be held from 10:00AM-12:00PM in Room #125. Welcome parents and students to participate.

How to get into the top colleges without being the perfect student?

You may have heard the daunting statistics of 5% admission rates at the top schools. You have seen the articles detailing how hundreds of students with perfect SAT scores were turned away. Maybe you know the "best" students who were somehow turned down by all but their sixth choice schools. College applications are terrifying - but we have been through it.

We are good students, but we are not the best.

Coming from High Technology High School, we know how competitive college admissions can be. We have spent countless hours studying available resources and reaching out to admissions offices to maximize our potentials. Our experiences put us at Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Wharton, Cornell, and many other top schools in and out of the Ivy League. We made it to the 5%, and our goal is to use what we have cumulatively learned to help you survive the college process.

Simply put, you do not have to be the perfect student to get into the top college.

5. School notice of board members election 2014

There are nine board members in our Huaxia Chinese School at Bergen, Inc. Two board members will retire this year. We need to elect two new members.

After being reviewed by the current board members, four people will be the next school year board member candidates. They are:
李岫冰 (li Xiubing),
韩伟 (Han Wei),
廖世平 (Liao Shiping),
陈国栋 (Chen Guodong).

The election will be held on June 15, 2014 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the cafeteria. The candidates will introduce themselves that day. If you want to know more about the candidates, you may email Chun Liu at liutpj@hotmail.com. Please come and cast your vote .Your supports are always appreciated.
