INTERNATIONAL CHESS ACADEMY (ICA) is starting enrollment for Chess Classes. Three different levels: Beginner I, Beginner II & Advance Beginner, Intermediate / Advance are available. Please use the criteria at bottom of the page to establish the proper level,

About Ica
Why Should You Play Chess
Mission: Students will develop an interest and enthusiasm for playing chess, which will foster problem-solving skills, sportsmanship and social skills
Introduce Game of Chess to students (beginners):
- Rules of the game:
how pawn/pieces move & and capture; castle, 'en passant', pawn promotion; check; checkmate; notation - chess 'abc'
- Basic strategy:
a. checkmate - is the goal of the game
b. development of the pieces
c. stalemate
d. capturing the opponent pieces
e. pieces value (absolute)
- Check Mate Concept ('how to')
a) mate with queen & king
b) mate with 2 rooks
c) mate with 1 rook and king
d) mate traps in the beginning of the game
e) mate traps in the middle game
- Basic End-Of-Game principles
a) King becomes very strong at end-of the game
b) Pawn & King against King
c) Simple end-game positions for practice
Improve Chess Skills for Intermediate & Advance students
- Brief review of the chess rules: capture; castle, 'en passant', pawn promotion; check; checkmate; stalemate

Please select (circle) the chess level:
Beginner I does not know anything (not even the name of the pieces)
Beginner II knows the name of all of chess pieces and is able to make legal moves; knows how to check the king.
Advanced Beginner knows how all the pieces move and capture; understands Relative Values of the Chess Forces; able to make the check with any of chess piece; understands the concept of checkmate; able to record moves (using chess notation); understands difference between checkmate & stalemate
Intermediate I knows how to check mate the King a) with 1 rook; b) with 2 rooks; c) with Queen; knows all of the chess rules including rule of the castle; en passant; pawn promotion; knows how to start the game (develop the pieces toward the middle and castle); able to play the game to the end (check mate)
